Nehemiah gives us a very encouraging picture of motivation, forward progress and cooperation being displayed by the people of God. Chapter 3 gives a snapshot of the willingness to work displayed among the people. Go read Nehemiah 3 and take note of the repeated phrase, “next to them” or “next to him.” Family after family are mentioned for their willingness to work.
This has been a very busy week with Vacation Bible School! It has been amazing to notice the large number of volunteers busily going different directions, but each with a specific task that they are accomplishing. And all of the different tasks come together in unity to create a fun-filled learning activity for our children.
It would be impossible to calculate the number of hours that have gone into preparing for this year’s VBS. The church building has been a busy hub of activity for many who have been working on decorating, preparing class lessons, crafts, snacks, and the list could go on and on. And many of the volunteers had just come back from a week of serving at camp!
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! -Psalm 133:1
I want to express appreciation to Chris Young, who took on the challenge of directing and organizing this year’s VBS. With so many moving parts, there is a lot that goes into planning and executing. I want to express appreciation to our teenagers for the way they stepped up to fill supporting roles for the teachers. I want to thank our grandparents who didn’t just sit back and leave this to the “younger” folks but rolled up their sleeves and served faithfully. I want to thank every teacher and volunteer who gave of yourself because you love God and love our children.
Pray that the messages we studied from God’s Word will have an impact upon the lives of all who participated. Give thanks for your brothers and sisters in Christ who worked beside you in this great effort. Thank God for His goodness and blessings. To Him be the glory!
