The Joy of Peace

The Joy of Peace

As I turned on the TV Monday morning, I saw President Trump speaking at a live news conference about the peace deal agreed to between Israel and Hamas. There was great joy among the people of Israel, a big part of which was the release of living hostages that were being held by Hamas. The families were overjoyed.

Luke 2: 8-14

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Early in my ministry I attended a school Christmas program that some of our young people were in. During the program, those beautiful children sang, “Let there be Peace on Earth.” And it hit me hard. The Question: How many of those precious souls will ever really know the Peace that God offers in Jesus Christ?

This past Sunday, Eddie Cloer challenged our hearts to understand the urgency that we prioritize loving God and living for Him in our homes! Parents, bring your children to Bible Class! Bring them to Worship! Bring them to Bible study and fellowship opportunities! If we are careless about putting God first in our home today, what will our children do when they leave home?

Romans 5: 1-5

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
