And What I Now Believe, I’ll KNOW

And What I Now Believe, I’ll KNOW

For long years standing in the light,

Successes coming day and night,

I lived those precious golden days

Of all the winning and the praise.

Now suddenly the shock: I’m old!

The “three-score years and ten” have rolled

Away, and twenty more have passed

Like fleeting shadows, lightning fast!

The flying decades came and went;

There was no way to circumvent

Their taking loved ones one by one

Whose race of life on earth was run.

Oh what a loneliness I feel

As day by day I try to steel

Myself to face the truth and see

That I am near Eternity!

What’s left of all the strain and strife

That marks this business of life?

The priceless hope, O God, that YOU,

Who planted in my heart that view

Of Everlasting Life with YOU,

Will show me that it’s really true –

That what you taught me here below,

And what I now believe, I’ll KNOW!!
