Go Forward: Be Strong and of Good Courage

Go Forward: Be Strong and of Good Courage

Last Sunday our Elders challenged us with the Plan of Work for 2025! I want to urge you to be prayerful that God will use each of us effectively for His glory in the year ahead! May we all experience growth in our personal relationship with God, in our one another relationship with each member of our church family, and in the development of our talents in service to God.

Someone once said, “Every journey begins with a single step.”

When the Israelites had left Egypt, they found themselves at the shore of the Red Sea. They had the sea in front of them, with mountains on either side, and then the Egyptian army was in pursuit behind them. What seemed to them to be a cul-de-sac of fear, became the launching point for their freedom.

Exodus 14: 13-16 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” 15 And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

What has been holding you back spiritually? What has been distracting you? What has been discouraging you?

The Israelites were at a point where if they remained frozen by fear, they would soon be destroyed or returned to captivity! But Moses reminded them that God was with them and would fight for them and give them peace in the midst of all the possibilities surrounding them.

And that is when the Lord says, “Tell the children of Israel to go forward.”

Forward meant through the raging Red Sea! And God caused the sea to divide before them, and the Israelites crossed over on dry ground.

It’s time to go forward! It’s time to launch forth on the journey of faith that God has prepared for us to walk! It’s time to trust in His power and dwell in His peace!

“Every journey begins with a single step.” As we go forward in faith, God will lead us and will overcome every obstacle that sets itself up against His honor and glory. To Him be the glory!
