Today, as we celebrate coming together to Worship and Adore Almighty God, our Heavenly Father; we want to take the opportunity to recognize and appreciate the role of Fatherhood that has been entrusted to many of us.
The significance of Male leadership in the home – especially spiritual leadership – has always been emphasized by God from the time of Creation onward. We see overwhelming evidence in our society of the moral decline that exists in an environment when men do not take their role and responsibility seriously.
I am grateful to have had a wonderful leader in the home I grew up in – a leader in both domestic and spiritual matters. And today, I am grateful for the men in our Graeber Road family who are seeking diligently to honor the role God has entrusted to them.
A good friend of mine would complain about feeling beaten up by Father’s Day sermons he would hear. Our sermon today will address “A Father’s Desire For His Child” from Proverbs 3, but the hope is not to “beat down” but to “build up” and encourage!
Leadership in the home is a crucial and sometimes difficult task. Let’s pray for one another! Let’s encourage one another!
I wrote this several years ago for my Dad, but it is reflective of all of you men who are seeking to be the man God wants you to be for your home!
F is for the Foresight you share. It surely has been gained from experience.
A is for the Applause you give me to encourage my efforts to grow.
T is for the Time you take to give me the attention I need in order to know I I am loved.
H is for the Home you have guided with love and with discipline; for both I am most grateful.
E is for the Example you have always been showing us how to walk hand in hand with the Spirit of God through the mountains and valleys of life.
R is for the Reverence you taught us to have for God, and the Respect you have taught us to have for our fellow
