“Whatever He says to you, do it.”

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.“ Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.“ His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.“ John 2:1-5

At the wedding feast in Cana of Galilee, in the setting of a great miracle of Jesus, Jesus‘ mother offers a life-changing piece of advice.

That advice, “Whatever Jesus tells you to do, do it.“

This advice was life-changing for the servants and certainly for the family hosting the wedding celebration.

I feel certain the servants – the ones who filled the pots with water – the ones who took that water to the master of the feast – the ones who heard the master of the feast declare this to be the good wine – were changed significantly that day. Surely, they wanted to know more about Who this Jesus was.

I feel certain the hosts – who were spared great embarrassment by Jesus – were forever changed by the powerful and compassionate action taken by Jesus.

Recently, I have been using this truth proclaimed at this wedding feast, in marriage ceremonies! the best advice for you marriage, for your home, for your future is: “Whatever Jesus tells you to do, do it.“

And the same truth applies to every aspect of your life! Want to be the best version of yourself in your present circumstances of life? Do whatever Jesus tells you to do!

And aren‘t we blessed to have the words of Jesus preserved for us in Holy Spirit inspired Scripture! Read it! Study it! Meditate upon it! And then be sure to do whatever He tells you to do!
