There is an old hymn (written in 1873) in our songbook titled “There is Much to Do” (#658). Known for its repeated: “Here am I, send me,” the song encourages the church to be ready for action and willing to “go” evangelize. This month in particular, that song rings a little different.
This week, until the end of the month, the average noise level of the building will increase tenfold. I still look on with shock and awe at the sheer amount of decorating, preparing, and planning that goes on here for Vacation Bible School.
We have this opportunity to plant God’s word into the hearts of children and families. On June 26-28, we get to tell our kids and those that may come from the surrounding area that God WANTS them! That He loves us and that He gave His Son for us because He WANTS us! John writes, “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).
Will you join us in sending the message to others that God WANTS them? There is much to do!
That Hymn Begins:
“There is much to do, there’s work on every hand, Hark! The cry for help comes ringing through the land”
Our cry for workers and servants for VBS may be slightly different, but remains as a call to work! We know we need our brothers and sisters to help. Will you respond with “Here am I, send me” as we finish preparations for VBS?
