Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

I have had the wonderful privilege of spending six Thursdays this summer with our young people during our Teens and Tagalongs sessions.

I want to commend our young people for the way they have come ready to open their Bibles and spend time in a study from God’s word. They have been very attentive and cooperative with their participation. After the Bible study time, they have also been very helpful in tackling needed service projects – that this summer have mostly centered on VBS preparations and preparations for our Free Garage Sale.

I want to commend our parents for the fine young men and women you are raising. Parenting is not an easy task, and training our children spiritually is a big challenge in the world in which we live. Your children show the value of your efforts! I want to commend our Bible class teachers and youth leaders – your love and support partnered with the parents efforts, provides a huge added blessing.

Paul told Timothy to let no one despise his youth. Young people, I want to urge you to seek to be the example God would have you to be in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith and in purity. Your good example has a positive impact on your physical family, your friends and co-workers, and also your spiritual family!

Today, we get to see the example of a young man setting a wonderful example before us, as one of our college students, Jackson McTopy, will be preaching for us during our morning assembly. We have seen Jackson’s love for God and His word on display, and we know that the message he shares from God’s word will be a blessing and a challenge to each of us.

Pray for our young people! Pray for our parents and grandparents who are seeking to nurture and admonish them in the Lord! Pray for our youth leaders and Bible class teachers! Let’s encourage one another to continue to grow in faith and knowledge!

To God be the glory!
