What We Do at the Elder/Preacher Retreat

Ever wonder what goes on at the annual elder/preacher retreat such as the one we had last weekend?

First, after all of us arrive at our retreat destination, we have a manly meal together (lots of meat).

Then, we’ll get down to the very serious business of praying through the directory. We mention each member and their family members by name, and ask God’s blessing on them. In other words, every one of you is mentioned in our prayers.

We’ll then take some time reviewing the year: What went well? What didn’t go so well? In what ways have we seen God’s blessings poured out on our church family? How have we seen Jesus being reflected in the lives of our church brothers and sisters? In what ways have we seen Jesus in 2020?

Then we will begin discussing what we’d like to see happen in 2021. That’s always very exciting.

Friday and Saturday will be spent praying and planning how to do the Lord’s work in 2021.

I have loved those precious times with our elders throughout the years. It’s so encouraging to see how much they love God and how much they love you.
